A collaborative Brisbane event production with Andrew Jarvie of LP Commercial Photography, combining cinematic video and still photography at The Creek.

When a live event has only one chance to happen, strong coverage depends on people who can anticipate the moment and work together without getting in its way.

On Saturday 19 July 2025, I worked alongside photographer Andrew Jarvie from LP Commercial Photography to cover Inter Dominion Grand Final Night at The Creek, Albion Park.

I produced the event highlight video while Andrew focused on the still photography. Together, we created a broader visual record than either medium could provide alone: motion, sound and atmosphere through film, supported by decisive still images of the racing, crowd, hospitality and presentations.

One brief, two experienced specialists

This was a genuine team assignment. We worked from the same event brief, coordinated our movement across the venue and concentrated on complementary parts of the story. That meant the client could receive both event video and photography without two disconnected crews competing for the same moments.

A live event with no second takes

The brief moved across a full night of activity: general crowd imagery, busy dining and hospitality areas, pre-race parades, the major races, post-race reactions and presentations. The coverage needed to show both the scale of the event and the smaller moments that made it feel personal.

Night racing brings its own technical demands. Light levels change from the track to the grandstand and hospitality spaces. Horses, drivers, presenters and spectators keep moving. Access must be managed safely, and the strongest reactions disappear quickly. Experience matters because there is rarely time to reset a real moment.

Video that carries the atmosphere

The 30-second highlight film at the top of this article was created to move quickly through the scale and energy of the night. It brings together the track, the crowd, the hospitality experience and the presentation moments in a concise edit that can work across event promotion and social media.

For me, event videography is not simply a record of what happened. The edit should let someone feel the pace of the venue, understand the occasion and see why being there mattered.

Andrew Jarvie of LP Commercial Photography

Andrew Jarvie brings substantial commercial and event photography experience through LP Commercial Photography. His work spans live events, hospitality venues, corporate assignments and architectural imagery, with a strong emphasis on performing calmly in difficult lighting, restricted-access environments and tight delivery windows.

That experience makes collaboration straightforward. Andrew understands the brief, finds the moments that matter and works unobtrusively. I can concentrate on motion, sound and the sequence needed for the film while knowing the still photography is being covered with the same level of care.

Why collaboration works for event clients

A collaborative crew gives an event organiser wider coverage without adding unnecessary complexity. While one person is following a presentation or interview, the other can capture the audience response, venue atmosphere or detail that completes the story.

It also creates a more useful content library. The finished film can lead a campaign or recap the occasion, while the photographs support media releases, sponsor reporting, websites, social posts and future event promotion.

  • One coordinated production approach
  • Dedicated event video and still photography specialists
  • Simultaneous coverage across the venue
  • Consistent visual standards and clear communication
  • Assets prepared for social, digital, editorial and stakeholder use

A complete visual record of the night

The final collection moves from the energy of the crowd and racing to interviews, trophies and formal presentations. Together, the video and still images give the client both an immediate highlight and a lasting archive of the event.
